His research interests include energy storage using phase change materials for passive building design, building energy efficiency, design of experiments, and data analysis. He has authored or co-authored many research papers on the aforementioned topics and published in a variety of leading journals including Sustainable Cities and Society, the International Journal of Low-Carbon Technologies, and the Journal of Materials and Environmental Science. He teaches courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and has participated in more than 20 R&D innovation projects with Bosnian and US companies. Dr Durakovic is actively involved as a reviewer for leading journals and as a journal editor of Periodicals of Engineering and Natural Sciences.
