He has served the University of Dar Es Salaam in different academic positions for more than 29 years. He is currently the Director of Institute of Resource assessment as well as the Director of Centre for Climate Change Studies of the University of Dar es Salaam. He is also a Chair holder of the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Professorial Chair in Environment and Climate Change of the University of Dar es Salaam.
