About the Author Fatos Xhafa received his PhD in Computer Science in 1998 from the Department of Computer Science of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain. He is currently a Professor Titular (Hab. Full Professor) at UPC, BarcelonaTech. He was a Visiting Professor at Birkbeck College, University of London (UK) in 2009–2010 and Research Associate at Drexel University, Philadelphia (USA) in 2004/2005. Prof. Xhafa has published widely in peer-reviewed international journals, conferences/workshops, book chapters and edited books and proceedings. He has an extensive editorial and reviewing experience, and is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Grid and Utility Computing and the International Journal of Space-based and Situated Computing. He is also a member of the EB of several international journals. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Elsevier book series “Intelligent Data-Centric Systems” and the Springer book series “Lecture Notes in Data Engineering and Communication Technologies”. His research interests include parallel and distributed algorithms, massive data processing and collective intelligence, optimization, P2P, and grid and cloud computing. Dr. Srikanta Patnaik is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SOA University, Bhubaneswar, India. He has received his PhD (Engineering) in Computational Intelligence from Jadavpur University, India in 1999. Dr. Patnaik has published around 100 research papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He is the author of 2 textbooks and 23 edited volumes and a number of invited book chapters, published by leading international publishers such as Springer-Verlag, and Kluwer Academic.
