Voilà un ouvrage exceptionnel, attendu depuis longtemps par tous les passionnés d'uniformologie : la réédition intégrale des planches de Lucien Rousselot, célèbre peintre napoléonien et la référence incontestable en la matière. Peintre officiel de l'armée, collaborateur infatigable de "La Sabretache", Rousselot réalisa ces cent six planches entre 1943 et 1971, suite à des recherches minutieuses dans les archives militaires ; soixante-huit sont consacrées à la période du Premier Empire, et le reste se répartit entre l'Ancien Régime, la Restauration et le Second Empire. Chaque planche est comme un miroir magique reflétant notre passé guerrier : personnages à fière allure, à pied et à cheval, détails de tenues et d'équipement : on a l'impression d'assister à une parade dans la cour des Tuileries, ou à une inspection au cours d'une campagne militaire ! Cette édition a été effectuée d'après la version pochoir, celle d'origine ; les couleurs ont été soigneusement respectées, et les textes de Rousselot reproduits intégralement. Elle contient également une introduction par Yves Martin, qui décrit le parcours de Rousselot et présente un échantillon de ses oeuvres, depuis les études uniformologiques jusqu'aux tableaux historiques à thème napoléonien. Ces deux volumes sous coffret occuperont désormais une place de choix dans votre bibliothèque napoléonienne, à côté des plus grands classiques sur l'Epopée. 2 volumes de 936 pages au total, reliés dans un coffret luxueux, avec dorure à chaud, format : 30 x 24 cm, 106 doubles planches richement illustrées. Cet ouvrage hors normes pèse près de 7 kg !
