Description

Les équations de Maxwell, fondement de l'édifice électrotechnique, spécifient les axiomes qui lient les champs. Ce sont des relations aux dérivées partielles du premier ordre, à résoudre en présence de conditions aux limites. L'ouvrage traite d'abord des structures unidimensionnelles que sont les lignes de transmission. Un modèle général sert à l'analyse des lignes dissipatives et dispersives, puis des terminaisons et de leur adaptation. L'étude des lignes à charges périodiques et des lignes couplées clôt la première partie de l'ouvrage. La seconde partie traite des champs électromagnétiques qui varient dans le temps, avec des vecteurs-phaseurs et des potentiels. Elle étudie les ondes planes, leur réflexion et leur transmission sur un interface entre deux milieux, puis les ondes sphériques, avec une brève introduction au domaine des antennes. Les structures tridimensionnelles sont abordées dans la troisième partie, pour des systèmes électrostatiques (Laplace, Poisson) et quasistatiques. Les principales méthodes de résolution sont décrites : différentielles (séparation de variables, transformations conformes), intégrales (fonctions de Green) et approchées (différences finies, éléments finis, méthode des moments).
