Bien qu'encore attaché à Calvin, il est un acteur important de l'évolution du monde protestant de la seconde moitié du XVIIe siècle. Le présent ouvrage analyse cette pensée encore imprégnée de celle de Calvin, mais déjà critique de la scolastique au nom, notamment, du cartésianisme. Au-delà d'une théologie se dessine le monde protestant de la seconde moitié du XVIIe siècle, secoué par la révocation de l'édit de Nantes et la Glorieuse Révolution anglaise. Tronchin en est parfois l'acteur et toujours l'observateur perspicace. About the Author Olivier Fatio, professeur honoraire de l'université de Genève, a enseigné l'histoire du christianisme durant trente ans et a dirigé l'Institut d'histoire de la Réforme. Spécialiste de la scolastique protestante, il est également éditeur de textes et auteur d'études sur l'histoire de la théologie et de Genève du XVIe au XIXe siècles. Il est le créateur du musée international de la Réforme de Genève. Lucien Bély, professeur d'histoire moderne à l'université Paris-Sorbonne, s'intéresse à l'histoire de la diplomatie et à la France de l'Ancien Régime. Il a notamment dirigé le Dictionnaire de l'Ancien Régime (Paris, 1996), codirigé l'Histoire de la diplomatie française (Paris, 2005) et publié L'Art de la paix (Paris, 2007), La France au XVIIe siècle (Paris, 2009) et Les secrets de Louis XIV (Paris, 2013).
