Ces synthèses sur la jachère et son devenir, réalisées par des auteurs de spécialités différentes, abordent des aspects biologiques, agronomiques et socio-économiques. Elles permettent de faire le point des connaissances actuelles concernant la transition agraire qui conduit des systèmes pratiquant encore la jachère vers des systèmes à culture continue. Ce deuxième volume est à consulter avec le premier qui concerne les communications présentées au cours d'un séminaire international tenu à Dakar en avril 1999. Il s'adresse aux chercheurs, enseignants, étudiants et aménagistes des zones tropicales africaines.
