En 2015 paraît "Le Mangeur d'or" , premier tome d' "Undertaker" , une série qui s'apprête à révolutionner l'art du western en bande dessinée. Cette saga originale - dont le héros est un croque-mort, Jonas Crow - est dessinée de main de maître par Ralph Meyer, qui réalise aussi la mise en couleur en collaboration avec Caroline Delabie, et écrite par Xavier Dorison. Né en 1971, ancien élève de l'Institut Saint-Luc de Liège, Ralph Meyer est le dessinateur de nombreux albums et séries comme "Berceuse assassine" (scénario de Philippe Tome), "Ian" (scén. de Fabien Velhmann), "XIII Mystery : La Mangouste" et "Asgard" (scén. de Xavier Dorison) ainsi que de "Page Noire" , d'après un scénario de Denis Lapière et Frank Giroud. Cet artbook, consacré à l'univers visuel d' "Undertaker" , propose une anthologie d'illustrations, de peintures, de dessins, d'esquisses préparatoires et de storyboards. Il met en lumière le talent protéiforme de Ralph Meyer, lauréat de nombreux prix pour son travail sur la série (notamment Prix Le Parisien et Prix Saint-Michel du meilleur dessin en 2015, Prix Fnac Belgique en 2016 et Prix Quai des bulles de l'affiche en 2021). L'occasion de faire un premier bilan d'une série devenue un classique, au sein de laquelle se joue l'aventure graphique d'un artiste en perpétuelle recherche.
