The gerrymandering myth impedes the interpretation of the way electoral boundaries have been created during the Fifth Republic. Studying this makes it possible to arbitrate between different partisan logics and parliamentary interests and show that it is not a factor that sufficiently and conclusively explains electoral results. About the Author Thomas Ehrhard is Associate Professor of political science at the university Pantheon-Assas - Paris 2. He is also lecturer at the Ecole Polytechnique. He has received several Thesis Prizes including those of the French Political Science Association and the Assemblee nationale (National Assembly). His current researches are on electoral and institutional systems, and their reforms.
