L'édition intégrale, aujourd'hui introuvable, des Mémoires de guerre du général de Gaulle. Lorsqu'il a entrepris la rédaction de ses Mémoires au lendemain de la Libération, Charles de Gaulle a confié à un archiviste la mission de rassembler toute la documentation sur laquelle il comptait s'appuyer pour raconter son épopée à la tête de la France libre jusqu'à son départ du pouvoir en janvier 1946. " Une masse considérable de pièces justificatives " rassemblant, selon ses dires, plus de 100 000 documents dont 3 000 lui parurent utiles à son récit, publiés en annexes de chacun des trois volumes. Notes personnelles, allocutions, éléments de correspondance avec ses principaux interlocuteurs de l'époque, Winston Churchill ou Franklin Roosevelt, messages à ses compagnons de combat, rapports d'entretiens, c'est un matériau d'une richesse exceptionnelle, occupant les deux tiers de chaque tome, qu'il avait tenu à faire figurer en contrepoint des Mémoires eux-mêmes, conçus comme une entreprise littéraire à part entière. Après sa mort, ces documents qui apportent un éclairage essentiel pour la compréhension de sa pensée et de son action ont disparu des rééditions qui se sont succédé. Jusqu'à ce que "Bouquins" prenne l'initiative de publier l'intégralité de ce qui constitue l'oeuvre majeure de l'homme du 18-Juin. Voici ce témoignage de premier ordre enfin disponible dans la forme que son auteur avait imaginée, c'est-à-dire enrichi d'innombrables documents originaux dont on mesurera l'intérêt à la lecture de l'ouvrage.
