It is the first book to bring together, with critical commentary and annotations, the entirety of her known correspondence. Quant a vouloir faire des esquisses et a les envoyer, j'ai fait resolument le voeu de n'envoyer jamais plus d'esquisses de ma main, car j'ai ete victime de fort mechants tours; et en particulier, aujourd'hui meme, je me suis trouvee avoir fait une esquisse sur des ames du Purgatoire pour l'eveque de Sant'Agata, et cette esquisse, pour depenser moins, on l'a fait executer par un autre peintre, lequel peintre travaille a partir des fruits de mon labeur.
