2021 marque le quatre centième anniversaire de la naissance de Jean de La Fontaine, né à Château-Thierry en juillet 1621. A cette occasion, la Pléiade publie en "Tirage spécial", sous coffret illustré, l'édition de référence des Fables choisies mises en vers, due à Jean-Pierre Collinet (1991), et illustrée, cette fois, des célèbres gravures de Grandville (1838) accompagnées - ce qui n'a jamais été réalisé - des dessins et esquisses du même Grandville, conservés dans le fonds Grandville de la Bibliothèque de Nancy et qui montrent le travail de l'illustrateur, en particulier le jeu auquel il se livre entre représentation animale et représentation humaine des personnages des fables.
