The literati painting is an art form that embodies the philosophical ideals of ancient intellectuals, which enjoyed its last golden age from the late seventeenth century to the early twentieth century. This book focuses on the genre’s masterpiece Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains and is divided into two volumes: research and appreciation. The first volume gives an overview of the literati painting history and analyses the typical works and their philosophical connotations, with rich and high-resolution illustrations. The second reproduces ‘The Master Wuyong Scroll’ and ‘The Remaining Mountain’, two parts of paintings depicting the Fuchun Mountains, currently housed in the Taipei Palace Museum and Zhejiang Provincial Museum in Hangzhou.
