This volume, the twelfth in the Somerset series, describes the town, port and seaside resort of Minehead and its neighbours. Dunster, known for its castle, was the centre of the medieval barony that dominated the area. It succeeded the large parish of Carhampton as the administrative centre of the area which includes Timberscombe and Withycombe on the edge of Exmoor.
