Product Description Tobias Smollett (1721–71) is best known as a novelist; however this prolific and talented author was also a notable historian, literary critic, translator, medical writer and satirist. This volume will help us to reassess our understanding of Smollett by presenting some of his most significant miscellaneous writings in a new critical edition. About the Author O M Brack, Jr was Emeritus Professor in the English Department at Arizona State University. He taught classes in Restoration and eighteenth-century English literature, bibliography and research methods, textual criticism, textual editing and the history of the book. Brack was Textual Editor for the 'Works of Tobias Smollett' (University of Georgia Press). Leslie Chilton is on the English Faculty at Arizona State University. Research interests include eighteenth-century literature, Tobias Smollett, theatre, film and narrative. She worked with O M Brack on the 'Works of Tobias Smollett' series (University of Georgia Press). Walter H Keithley is based at the English Department at Arizona State University. Recent publications include a chapter in Editing Lives: Essays in Contemporary Textual and Biographical Studies in Honor of O M Brack, Jr. (2013).
