Description

Major General Guy Dawnay (1878-1952) was a poet and a strategist who set aside a promising military career to pursue business ambitions. Rejoining the British Army on the outbreak of war, he served first as a captain, 'dug out' from the reserves, and ended as temporary major general. Drawing on the Dawnay collection at the Imperial War Museum, this volume offers insights on the challenges of planning operations, and Dawnay's relationships with key politicians and commanders.
