Description

There is increased interest in trauma informed care in the UK and worldwide. However, to date there are limited resources for professionals seeking to provide training to help health and social care staff deliver care that is trauma informed at an emotional as well as practical level. The CaPLET (Caring for People with Lived Experience of Trauma) Training Manual fills this gap. It guides facilitators in making core attachment and psychodynamic concepts – which are relevant to providing trauma-informed care – accessible to health and social care staff, and translating these concepts into principles for trauma-informed practice. In addition, the manual enables facilitators to help staff better understand the people they care for in the context of their histories of trauma, and to develop insight into the ways in which attending to their own emotional and behavioural responses can help them provide better care. Designed for professionals with a basic understanding of trauma-informed care, The CaPLET Training Manual provides all the guidance needed to run a training course for care staff and clinicians who work with people who are survivors of trauma.
