About the Author Steven Harris-Scott is a historian with a Ph.D. in history from George Mason University and M.A. in history from the University of New Orleans. He is an assistant professor of history and humanities and the interim associate director of Faculty Affairs and Strategic Initiatives at INTO George Mason University. His research focuses on colonial Virginia, found/unfree labor, environmental history, and the history of diseases/pandemics.
