Description
The human impact on the environment is understood from the scientific study of anthropocene. It is a proposed epoch in Earth's history characterized by significant human influence on Earth's geology, ecosystems and climate. The loss of biodiversity is due to an accelerated rate of species extinction. This is witnessed through the massive decline of marine phytoplankton in the world's oceans and decrease in algal biomass.
