Anthropocene: Extreme Climate Changes

The metaphorical concept of the Anthropocene Age in this study is equivalent to the concept of "Planetary Bankruptcy." This approach is proposed based on several studies about this controversial event (the Anthropocene). The primary objective of this study is to correlate the Anthropocene with the concept of human development. In this sense, the Anthropocene is a result of human development throughout the centuries. However, it is a very recent phenomenon in this history. It is such a relevant phenomenon that it would not be an exaggeration to speak of human development before and after the Anthropocene. Thus, we situate the Anthropocene era within the context of human development. The Anthropocene is so impactful on human development that we opted for this approach. The main objective of this study is precisely to decipher this enigma surrounded by many myths. On the other hand, it has also been considered by many analysts to be a controversial and very broad topic involving various fields of scientific knowledge and with a high level of complexity. The literature is immense, which forced us to make a selective choice for each topic discussed here. However, I seek to limit myself to studying the impactful themes for human development, in my judgment. I do not propose outlandish solutions, much less do I intend to exhaust them within the scope of this study. My goal is to bring them up for debate. The debate is based on the urgency of current phenomena associated with the Anthropocene and its implications for the majority of the planet's population today. Although many of these phenomena are simplified for the purposes I seek, I do not shy away from the depth that must be respected. The Anthropocene is discussed here from the perspective of its related themes. In one way or another, the Anthropocene is always involved. Therefore, it is the central theme of this study, whether as a background or implicit theme. But it will be the central theme, the central purpose of the study. The Anthropocene has already been addressed in another work: GLOBALIZATION AGE - Rise and Crisis of Modernity. The Dawn of the 21st Century (2024). A central theme of the crisis of Modernity. Given the significance of its impact on human development, he decided to dedicate a separate study to addressing it. We cannot pretend to be naive enough to suddenly realize we have transformed the planet: those responsible for the Industrial Revolution, which ushered us into the Anthropocene, actively desired and shaped this new era. To consider the Anthropocene as an event brought about by human development means taking history seriously and learning to work with the so-called hard sciences, without, however, becoming mere narrators of a natural history of the interactions of the human species with the Earth system. Finally, to consider the Anthropocene as an event is to acknowledge that we have crossed the threshold out of the Holocene. Current human development is killing the planet at an accelerated rate: "Great acceleration" after the Great World War with the depletion of substances vital to human development itself.
