Journalism is concerned with the creation and distribution of reports on current events based on facts and supported with proof or evidence. It can be broadly divided into three types of media, namely, print media, electronic media and digital media. A few examples of these are newspapers, magazines, books, blogs, webcasts, podcasts, social networking and social media sites, and e-mail. Journalism also entails a range of ethical standards and practices that must be observed by everyone engaged in the profession irrespective of their position or post. These include truthfulness, accuracy, objectivity, impartiality, fairness and public accountability as these apply to the compilation of newsworthy information and its consequent dissemination to the masses.
