The Sixth Edition updates the treatment of the usual topics and significantly rearranges the structure. A new chapter titled "Loss Allocation" combines previous chapters on general average, marine insurance, and limitation of liability into a single presentation. This new chapter addresses questions such as whether a potential loss can be reallocated in advance; whether to leave the loss where it falls or to make the duty-breacher pay; and whether the loss is limited, shared, or diverted to another party. The editors have sought to keep the Sixth Edition both comfortable for long-time users and accessible to new users.
