Nephrology is the branch of medicine dealing with the study of kidneys. It is concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases. Maintaining a healthy diet is an effective way to prevent kidney diseases. Nephrologists are physicians whose expertise lies in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases. Some common kidney diseases are kidney stones, acute renal failure and chronic kidney disease. Dialysis and renal transplantation are two of the most common and effective ways to treat kidney diseases.
