Lexical functional grammar refers to a grammatical framework in theoretical linguistics which is constraint-based. It presents syntactic structures on two different levels. The first level is a phrase structure grammar which represents constituency and word order. The second is the representation of grammatical functions such as subject and object. In this discipline, the structure of language is considered to be made up of multiple dimensions. Every dimension is defined as a distinct structure having its own concepts, form and rules.
