You will learn how to: simulate three-dimensional devices like metamaterials and frequency selective surfaces, modify FDFD to easily perform parameter sweeps, solve differential equations using the finite-difference method, calculate guided modes in waveguides as well as photonic band diagrams and isofrequency contours of periodic structures, and more. All of the equations needed for FDFD will be derived, explained, and implemented in many different MATLAB codes to simulate different devices. Readers are assumed to have a basic knowledge of electromagnetics or photonics, and computer programming in MATLAB.
