Epilepsy is fairly unique among the various neurological disorders as it provides the neuroscientist with almost boundless opportunities to examine basic neurobiological mechanisms. Not surprisingly, advances in epilepsy research are closely tied to dev- opment of innovative neurobiological methodologies.
