Many consider Doré’s vibrant artwork in these volumes to be some of his best, though they remain little known because of their rarity due to the limited numbers printed at the time. Volume Two of this priceless two-part saga begins with “Book XII: The Sixth Crusade” from A.D. 1200-1215 and concludes with “Book XVIII: Upon the State of Europe” A.D. 1571-1685.
