About the Author John R. Griffith, MBA, LFACHE, is the Andrew Pattullo Collegiate Professor Emeritus in the Department of Health Management and Policy at the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He was the chair of his department from 1987 to 1991. He has served as chair of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) and as senior adviser to the board of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership. He has received the Gold Medal Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives, as well as multiple publication awards. He was an examiner for the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program from 1997 to 1998.
