Linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) commonly known as alsi is a member of genus Linum within the family Linaceae with 14 genera and over 200 species. Out of those, only Linum usitatissimum L. possess both agronomic and economic properties and are being exploited for both industrial and human consumption purposes. Irrespective of medicinal, nutraceuticals and industrial uses of linseed, the popularity and attention required for its improvement is still not enough.
