This book is a focused review of clinical flow cytometry, and is meant to be helpful in daily clinical practice for those just beginning to learn flow cytometry as well as those with years of experience. Covering the basic principles of flow cytometry, and then engaging in detailed reviews of the flow cytometric evaluation of B-cells, plasma cells, T-cells, and myeloid cells, it packs a wide variety of immunophenotypic data into one volume. Moreover, this book covers both normal and abnormal findings for each lineage, and highlights key pitfalls to avoid making diagnostic mistakes. Many of the most common neoplastic entities are reviewed, and signature findings are highlighted. Using the updated nomenclature for clinical hematologic malignancies provided by the revised 4th edition of the WHO classification system, the book is current in its approach and content. Whenever possible, detailed colored examples of flow cytometric plots are provided to help convey the important diagnostic findings. Most importantly, a review of current applications of flow cytometry in minimal residual disease is provided to assist in both the development and interpretation of these assays.
