Description

The concept of Emotional Intelligence (EI) was used by Salovey and Mayer to refer to the abilities and capacities to perceive and produce emotions that enable thought, to understand those emotions and regulate them with a clear adaptive function of the individual. This plays an important role throughout life, offering a frame of reference for the management of emotions with which a person relates to their environment. According to the different researches, emotional intelligence has been related to subjective well-being, personal, labor and psychological well-being, health perception and related behaviors, the socio-scholar adjustment of students, job or academic satisfaction, and the link with studies, social skills, etc. Therefore, it deserves attention, research, development and control in order to achieve a society better prepared for individual and collective success. The conceptual paradigm of intelligence has evolved over time, focusing on a multidisciplinary and integrating perspective in the present. Therefore, this book captures the results of some of the recent research that is being carried out on this construct from a multidisciplinary approach (educational, organisational, development, etc.) and throughout life (childhood and adolescence, adulthood, etc.).
