In the past decade, knowledge of the effects of radiation at the molecular level, including DNA damage and repair, has advanced dramatically. This book describes the current state of knowledge in the fields of radiation effects, the medical uses of radiation, and radiation protection. It also considers past nuclear disasters, including the accident at Fukushima, and trends in nuclear disarmament. About the Author Kenshi Komatsu is a Professor Emeritus at Kyoto University, Japan, having previously served as the Director of the Radiation Biology Center at the same institution. He has also held positions at Hiroshima University and Nagasaki University, Japan, and was active in research programs at Columbia University, USA. He is a former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Radiation Research.
