Description

The South-Eastern European Monetary History Network (SEEMHN) brings together the central banks of seven countries in this region (Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Serbia and Albania) to shed light on their respective monetary histories. This book includes presentations made at the 2016 conference of this network, and will appeal to central bankers, members of academia and researchers interested in European economic history with a focus on South-Eastern Europe. The contributions here put the spotlight on economic and financial developments, links between economic crises, and the gaps between Europe’s core and peripheral economies. Review “The papers presented in the volume will provide researchers concerned with issues of economic and monetary history and all those willing to grasp the remote and not so remote past with additional relevant knowledge about the economic facts of South East Europe.” Mugur IsărescuGovernor of the National Bank of Romania“This volume continues the remarkable series of conference proceedings produced by the South-East European Monetary History Network. May this volume find the attention in the academic and central bank communities that it truly deserves.”Doris Ritzberger-GrünwaldDirector of Economic Analysis and Research, Oesterreichische Nationalbank About the Author Daniel Dăianu is Professor of Economics at the National School of Political and Administrative Studies in Bucharest and a Member of the Romanian Academy.
