Product Description This book offers a guide to medical English, and is addressed to healthcare professionals and students with an upper-intermediate level of English. It will also be useful as a handout for specialised English courses offered in medicine, nursing, and physiotherapy degrees, and can be used as a self-study book. The book is made up of four chapters, structured into three sections: namely, grammar, science, and phonetics. Each chapter reviews the main points of English grammar, and works with the vocabulary of the medical field. About the Author Dr Goretti Faya Ornia is a graduate in Translation and Interpretation (English and German) from the University of Valladolid, Spain, having specialised in medical and technical translation at University Jaume I, Spain, and the University of Seville, Spain. She works as a Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of English, German, and French Philology of the University of Oviedo, Spain, where she also received her PhD. She has published several papers on medical language, communicative problems in the medical environment, text typologies, contrastive linguistics, and the use of corpora in translation. Héctor Hernández Lázaro is a graduate in Physiotherapy from the University of Valladolid, Spain, having specialised in osteopathic manual therapy at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, and sports physiotherapy at the University of Alcalá de Henares, Spain. He is a Lecturer at the Department of Surgery, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, and Physiotherapy of the University of Valladolid, and has carried out his professional clinical labour since 2010 in the State Healthcare Service of Castilla y León, Spain.
