About the Author Stephanie Patterson is a clinical associate professor in the health science major at Stony Brook University. Integrating experiences in disability services and labor relations with disability studies, her primary expertise lies in the field of disability and employment. Among her publications is a co-edited forum on disability and employment in the Review of Disability Studies that included her article, "A Historical Overview of the History of Disability and Employment in the United States (1600-1950)" and a book chapter in Disability Discrimination at the Workplace by Piraeus Books.
