Product Description Gender, Communication, and the Digital Revolution invites readers to study the changing notions of identity and diversity as they apply to gender and its intersection with the digital age. Through exposure to a carefully selected collection of readings and a variety of scholarly perspectives, students gain the knowledge and competence needed to successfully communicate in the broader arena of gender diversity. Organized in five sections, the book covers current debates, issues, and topics designed to provide a variety of perspectives that challenge established mindsets and expand understandings of gender. The first section introduces the study of gender and communication. In section two, readers learn about the media’s longstanding role in gender conditioning and promoting gendered behaviors, values, and attitudes that are deemed appropriate in a given culture and context. Section three explores the internet as a place for both gender liberation and ongoing suppression. In section four, students examine readings that explore gendered conversation styles. The final section discusses artificial intelligence and its relationship to gender. Presenting a thoroughly modern and innovative approach, Gender, Communication, and the Digital Revolution is well suited for courses in communication studies, speech communication, and women and gender studies.
