About the Author Theodore Burgh is a professor in the Philosophy and Religion Department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He holds a Ph.D. in Near Eastern studies from the University of Arizona, as well as master's degrees in Near Eastern studies and religious studies from the University of Arizona and Howard University, respectively. His areas of expertise include the Hebrew Bible, the history of Israelite religion, the ethnology of music in ancient Israel, and the archaeology of ancient Israel. Students read about the establishment of a monarchy and the role of prophets in ancient Israel. The text concludes by addressing the fall of Israel and Judah, as well as the role of wisdom-sharing in ancient literature.
