The Recalcitrant Rich is a collection of sharp and fairly short sketches and explanations of the responses to developing-country demands by seven West European countries, the European Community, the United States of America and the U.S.S.R. It aims to analyse the responses of the North to the demands from the South for those political and economic changes that collectively constitute the 'New International Economic Order' package. About the Author Helge Ole Bergesen is a Norwegian political scientist. Hans-Henrik Holm is Professor of World Politics at the Danish School of Journalism at Aarhus University, Denmark. Robert D. McKinlay is Deputy Vice Chancellor at Lancaster University, UK.
