This book emerged from a graduate mathematics lecture series aimed at familiarizing (harmonic) analysts with the circle of ideas used to study classical Euclidean-analytic operators on the integers. The title, says Krause, recognizes the over-arching impact of Jean Bourgain and Eli Stein on the field. The first part sets out preliminaries: tools, oscillation and convergence, and the linear theory. Subsequent parts cover discrete analogues in harmonic analysis from the perspectives of radon transforms, maximally modulated singular integrals, and introductory multi-linear theory.
