About the Author My background in civil aviation regulation goes back over 22 years, of which 17 years with the Flight Crew Licensing department of the UK Civil Aviation Authority and 5 years with the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA). Prior to 1990 I also served as a military pilot in the British Army. During my time with the JAA I had the pleasure of answering numerous questions from the 42 JAA Member States, arising from individual pilots, Training Organisations and National Aviation Authorities. I also had the pleasure of personally meeting and training hundreds of pilots and staff members of these organisations. This series of books is dedicated to all those friends and colleagues whom I met and trained across Europe and other continents, over the years.
