About the Author Dr Fiona Murphy is Senior Lecturer in Nursing in the College of Human and Health Science Swansea University, Swansea, United Kingdom. Dr Murphy has an extensive and recognised track record in conducting empirical research in women′s health and nurse education and currently leads the nursing research unit within the College of Human and Health Sciences. She has extensive experience in teaching nursing theory on undergraduate and post graduate courses including International Masters programmes. Dr Christine Smith has worked as the Director of Primary Care and Director of Home Liaison (Senior Lecturer) in the Cardiff School of Nursing and Midwifery Studies at Cardiff University, Wales. Dr Smith is an established and recognised nursing scholar who has attained a high level of sustained output in both the field of nurse education and nursing research. Dr Smith has published in the nursing press and her work has influenced undergraduate and post graduate students in the field on care of older people. Her recent achievement is the publication of her book on Researching Older People′s Nursing (2010) which examines the use of nurse′s practice theories in Older Peoples Nursing. Dr Smith has recently been appointed to work with Welsh Government (CSIIW) as a fee paid inspector for Health and Social Care.
