Despite it being one of the main languages of the world, with linguists having worked on it for decades, so far there is no volume in English that encapsulates the corpus linguistic research done on Portuguese, around the globe. This book fills this gap in the research, comprising three sections, on corpora and tools, corpus analysis and lexicography and terminology. The first section presents major corpus resources for both synchronic and diachronic data, as well as annotation and comparison. This includes Corpus de Portugues, Corpus Brasilero, Linguateca, MLC, C-ORAL Brasil, Reference Corpus of Contemporary Portuguese, Comet, Per-Fide and the Palavras Parser. The second section brings together recent corpus analyses that focus on aspects such as translation, register variation, metaphor uses, complex prepositions and Portuguese as a Foreign Language. The last section is devoted to advances in lexicography and terminology.
