Product Description La primera introducción completa y sistemática en lengua española a Evagrio Póntico, "el monje más culto del siglo IV", esta obra se concentra sobre todo en el tratamiento de la acedia. Se presenta la vida y obra de Evagrio con acertados comentarios y amplias contextualizaciones que permiten situar y comprender la doctrina evagriana. Su teología y filosofía es analizada detalladamente, destacando su ubicación en la Escuela de Alejandría como seguidor de Orígenes. El libro dirige su mayor concentración y análisis al concepto de la acedia, un fenómeno espiritual y psicológico del que Evagrio es su primer teorizador. Comenzando por una arqueología del término que se remonta a la literatura clásica griega, Rubén Peretó Rivas enfoca desde distintos ángulos la complejidad de esta particular patología, descubriendo no solamente sus aspectos ascéticos que se enmarcan en la historia de la espiritualidad cristiana, sino también su dinámica psicológica, que la transporta al ámbito de estudio propio de la psicología. Con los aportes realizados por las investigaciones más recientes en el ámbito de la patrística, la profusa documentación bibliográfica que aparece comentada en el libro es suficiente para introducir al lector en el estudio de un autor, Evagrio Póntico, que se ha convertido en objeto de atención de numerosos especialistas en la última década. About the Author Rubén Peretó Rivas es Doctor en Filosofía (Angelicum, Roma) y diplomado con el Diploma Europeo de Estudios Medievales (Fidem, Lovaina), desarrollando su labor como profesor ordinario de Historia de la Filosofía Medieval en la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Mendoza, Argentina) y como investigador del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas. Ha sido Fulbright Research Fellow en la Universidad de Notre Dame (Indiana) y Visiting Fellow de la Universidad de Oxford, del Institut Catholique de Paris y del Istituto Patristico Augustinianum de Roma. Su producción bibliográfica más reciente está dedicada al estudio de Evagrio Póntico, particularmente su psicología y antropología.
