The reports related to each inpatient case are to be transcribed by the students. The terms listed in each glossary are dictated, followed by the medical report dictation. Cases 1 through 5 contain timed dictation at 80 and 90 words per minute; cases 6 through 10 contain office-style dictation. Different regional accents and background noises that duplicate real-life situations are used in the recorded dictation. The ten transcription tests are dictated using the same speed and style as their corresponding case exercises. Reports related to each outpatient case are also to be transcribed by the students.
