Description

This book explains the causes of the 'lost decade' in the Japanese economy and the series of policy mistakes which lead to a deflationary environment. What will the future bring for the Japanese economy? Without reforms, the situation can only decline. The issue is that the institutions and policies that were used to drive the 'Japanese miracle' are still in place. The book argues that Japan's crisis is thus, a crisis of governance. About the Author RAMESHWAR TANDON is Research Professor at the International Institute for Special Education, Lucknow, India. For the past several years, he worked with Professor Rao at the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore; also with Professor Kishwar Shabbir Khan at Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He is author-editor of thirty books for the New World Order series in collaboration with Sir Hans Singer of IDS, Sussex and Neelambar Hatti, Lund University.
