About the Author John Mullen is Professor at Rouen University. He is author of 'The Show Must Go On': Popular Song in Britain during the First World War (Ashgate 2015). He has published widely on questions of popular music between 1880 and 1920, and on the history and historiography of the First World War, and is also the editor of the French Journal of British Studies.
