This two-volume work, published in 1794, narrates the fortunes of the Islamic kingdoms in southern India from the thirteenth century onwards. Volume 1 comprises a translation of the work of the Persian chronicler Ferishta (1560–1620), documenting the history of the Deccan Plateau to the end of the sixteenth century.
