The authors begin by examinin g the reasons for studying women and leisure, and continue by investigating the patriarchal structures in society through the past century. These are then re-examined from the feminist perspective, revealing a parallel between the changing social roles of women and their recreational and leisure opportunities. At the end of each chapter there is a useful summary which provides a framework for further analysis and research into the future of women's leisure.
