Description

The text of three periodicals reproduced in this edition each give insight into different decades of Ferdinand Pelzer's career. The Giulianiad of the 1830s was the first niche magazine devoted to the guitar that included both text and music sections and it is widely accepted that Pelzer had an editorial role. In the 1840s he contributed to the singing class movement and outlined his philosophy and aims in the Musical Herald. In the 1850s he returned to guitar teaching with his Guitarist's Companion.
