These chapters include many new ideas that will help to make our cities more sustainable. That said, this book is not just about cities. It argues that having sustainable cities will be vital in reducing negative impacts of urban expansion on our rural and wild environments, too. About the Author Dr Phil McManus is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Geosciences at the University of Sydney with qualifications in urban and regional planning, environmental studies and geography. In Australia he has lived and taught in Perth, Newcastle and Sydney. He is a National Councillor of the Australian Conservation Foundation.
